Oakwood EMS Hiring for 2 PRN Positions
The Oakwood Emergency Rescue Service PRN EMT responds to emergency and non-emergency ambulance requests. Has assigned daily and weekly duties, such as cleaning of ambulances and equipment, to complete during work hours. Hours of work should not exceed 19 hours per week to comply with the part-time status guidelines and is the responsibility of the employee to select schedule. This may be adjusted depending upon time period of the calendar year and prior time worked.
Responsibilities:
Responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the ill and injured.
Checks and monitors ambulance readiness.
Clearly communicates crew and vehicle position at all times.
Cleans ambulance, utility vehicles, and crew’s quarters daily.
Provides directions to EMT’s while on ambulance calls.
Manages the care of patients during transport to the hospital.
Assess blood glucose and provide treatment if necessary.
Performs CPR and uses an AED.
Controls hemorrhage. Apply bandages and dressings.
Assess for breathing difficulties and applies oxygen when needed.
Assist in childbirth.
Must be able to lift and carry 100lbs.
Must be able to push/pull 100lbs.
Transports patients in wheelchair van when needed.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma
Illinois EMT-B or NREMT-B
Certification & Licensure Requirements:
Emergency Medical Tech(EMT) License: Illinois upon hire and Driver’s License upon hire. National Incident Mgmt. System (NIMS) 100 within 6 months, and National Incident Mgmt. System (NIMS) 200 within 6 months, and National Incident Mgmt. System (NIMS) 700 within 6 months and National Incident Mgmt. System (NIMS) 800 within 6 months.
Experience Requirements:
Two(2) years driving experience.
EMS working experience is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
A working knowledge of the EMS system. Ability to work under the direction of a paramedic in a patient care setting. Prior to functioning as a licensed EMS provider, applicants must test into the Region 6 EMS System, which may include a written exam and a skills assessment. A letter of good standing from the most recent EMS system worked must also be provided. In cases where an individual does not have prior EMS experience, the letter requirement will be waived.
